I, who have a phobia of puppets, enjoyed Awa Ningyo Joruri in person for the first time.

更新日:

The part I thought was great.

To be honest, there was a crazy amount that I thought was great.

For example, "the doll's expression.

It looked like a real human mother and child reunion. The expression of the mother's struggle, the expression of the child who cries from missing her…I guess the three blacks, the narrator, and the performers make it soulful.

Then there is "how the dolls move. I heard that female dolls are performed with a detailed way of movement. I learned this from my grandfather, who told me that female dolls do not physically have legs, but they have them, and they appear to walk and bend their knees.

The three blacks move it with A-Un. According to the old man, they all have the story and the lines in their heads. It's true, if you don't have a grasp of the story, you can't move in a way that appeals to the emotions and the soul.

Truth be told, I think I was able to enjoy the play only because the old volunteer gave me detailed information about it.

Therefore, I prefer to visit Jurobei Yashiki on Saturdays and Sundays when volunteers are available. Besides, it is only on Saturdays and Sundays that you can see a live puppet show.

It is hard to find unless you know the area and have a navigation system, but I strongly recommend you to see it. As an anti-Tokushima resident, I can also recommend it.

I also made the painful mistake of not bringing my SLR to take pictures. Even though I was in the third row from the front and relatively far in front, this is the distance: 。。。。

Surprisingly, everyone was snapping away, and I found myself thinking, "Oh, no!

But, strangely enough, I don't have much fear of dolls anymore after having enjoyed Joruri. Maybe it's just my imagination.
